DIY Healthy Treats for Your Dog
Treating your dog doesn’t have to mean giving them store-bought snacks with questionable ingredients. I’ve been making healthy, homemade treats for Fly, and I love knowing exactly what’s in them. Here are a few simple, budget-friendly recipes you can try using ingredients you likely already have at home!
1. Peanut Butter & Banana Bites
These treats are a hit with dogs and incredibly easy to make!
- Ingredients: 1 ripe banana, 1/4 cup peanut butter (natural, unsweetened), 1 cup oats
- Instructions: Mash the banana, mix in peanut butter and oats, roll into small balls, and bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
2. Carrot & Sweet Potato Chews
Perfect for dogs that love a good chew, these treats are both delicious and full of fiber.
- Ingredients: 1 carrot, 1 sweet potato
- Instructions: Slice the carrot and sweet potato into thin strips, bake at 250°F for 2-3 hours until chewy.
3. Apple Cinnamon Pup Cookies
A simple, dog-safe recipe that smells amazing while it bakes!
- Ingredients: 1/2 cup applesauce (unsweetened), 1 egg, 1 1/2 cups oat flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Instructions: Mix ingredients, roll dough into small shapes, and bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
Why DIY?
Making treats at home gives you control over ingredients, ensuring your dog gets nutritious, low-cost snacks without preservatives or added sugars. Plus, it’s a great way to bond with your dog—Fly waits eagerly by the oven, knowing something tasty is coming!
